Why I was drawn to cartoon style art

Embarking on a colorful journey into the world of artistry, I stumbled upon the allure of cartoon style creations. What started as a simple choice evolved into a lifestyle full of creativity, leading me down a path of self-discovery and artistic liberation. Join me as I share with you the reasons why cartoon style art helped cultivate my imagination and why it might just do the same for you.

My Journey to Cartoon Style Artistry

Diving headfirst into the realm of art, at the ripe old age of probably around 12, I found myself drawn to the simplicity and charm of cartoon style art. Unlike realism, where perfection is the pursuit, cartoons offered me the freedom to add my unique perspective and personality into each drawing.

I Remember when I first really got into drawing was when I got my first laptop. I was still in elementary school at the time and when summer came my dad would let me bring this old laptop with window vista on it to my summer karate/daycare program and during the playtime the daycare had I would draw bright red or purple dragons with the tracker pad until i got bored.

Once I hit middle school at around 14 I started having consistent characters such as pyro, and buttons, and I got really into a form of animation called an animation meme. Animation memes are short music video clips people would make of their characters dancing to a snippet of song they were a big fan of, typically with no story but cute or interesting visuals. When I was 15 I started working on my comic serpentera but it wasn't called that then, it was called the factions, and it was alot different.

I love being able to draw cartoons because they have such a range. A common misconception is that you cannot put a cartoon in a serious story without it seeming out of place but many different forms of media prove this to be very untrue, for example wolfwalkers on apple tv is a family friendly movie animated in a cartoon style but the whole style shows seriousness all the way from the beginning to the end in a gritty but lovable format. It has so much more emotion than if it were done in realism.

Thats a very large part of the reason people have been having issues with disney changing their beautifully made 2d cartoon movies into 3d realistic films. They just lack the personality that cartoons have as well as the facial expressions, body language, and bright colors.

The Playful World of Cartoon Expression

Filling my life with cartoons, I find so much freedom for imagination and playfulness that i can clearly see just so many adults have been lacking recently. Their sense of whimsy and magic in the world is just gone. Every piece I make, every character I draw, has a part of my soul in it and I believe that my viewers can feel that too. I hope with my art that I can maybe share a little bit of my imagination with my friends, fans, and family. The power of storytelling within cartoonism still remains unmatched, because no other form of art lets anyone, young or old, look at it and see the same thing, feel the same emotion, and truly connect through something cute, colorful, or dramatic.

One of the best things about cartoons is its ability to transcend reality and still be able to be recognized as what it is, without being bound by the laws of physics and bland correct posture. Whether your drawing furries or gorgeous ghibli themed scenic views, a cartoonist's brush gives lifes to ordinary things turning them extraordinary. This is why I love cartoons, why I love being able to create them myself.

Unleashing Creativity Through Cartoon Mediums

When it come to cartoon mediums there are more options already existing than one person could possibly choose from! From hazbin hotel to invader zim, or winnie the pooh, to el tigre, the pre-existing styles to reference are endless! Or you can create your own! We are living in a digital age and that's not always a bad thing, it has given us all such an opportunity to see all this amazing content or to make our very own ! EVERYONE now has the opportunity to make an amazing cartoon , something that definently wasnt available to us 30 years ago.
